Gallant-No-More

I recently found out that someone reached my site by searching for "Goofus and Gallant," that Highlights for Kids strip that I mentioned in an earlier post (which later led to my shameful confession that I am a flower thief).

Reproducing that search (just for fun), I found this excellent article on how the mighty fall. So I thought I'd share.

Is there nothing sacred in this world anymore?

my grandmother used to get Highlights subscriptions for my sister & I when we were kids. I loved Goofus & Gallant!

Goofus slaps his sister around and breaks her toys; Gallant does his sister's hair, helps her pick out her outfits and lends her his Cher CDs.

OMG Eric, that is too funny. Looking back now, I realize "G&G" was a pretty heavy-handed how-to-be-a-good-boy feature. (Didn't stop me from wanting to be Gallant, or from wanting that cool sweater, though.) Good thing I don't have a sister! :)
